It's Been a Week!
Happy Friday everyone! Today marks the one week period that I have gone without social media (besides Facebook & Pinterest). I can honestly say that it has been so refreshing to not constantly be scrolling through my feeds and comparing myself to others. This past week I've focused on doing things that I love and enjoy. I've made a dent in the crazy puzzle I'm working on, I've made progress in my book, I've been more productive when it comes to schoolwork, and I've taken time to meditate and work out more.
Without notifications constantly popping up on my phone and the temptation of clicking the apps on my phone, I have significantly reduced the time I spend on my phone. At some times during this past week I did get curious about what I was "missing" on social media, but after thinking logically, I'm not missing much. If I am wondering what a friend is up to, I can just text or call them, I don't need to scroll through their instagram or snapchat them to find out how they are. With that said, I do feel that it's easier and requires less thought to check social media and see what people are up to.
So after one week of dropping social media, I've decided to redownload the social media apps that I deleted (Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and VSCO) but turn off all my notifications so that I'm not tempted to check the app every time I get a notification. With this, I'm hoping to keep the time I'm on my phone each day down and have time to focus on being my true and best self!

I did this not too long ago! I ended up having a pretty bad anxiety attack because of how much stress social media was causing me. In the midst of it, I deactivated all my accounts, but still kept it off throughout the week. Just like you, I “came back,” but I’ve had all my notifications off to avoid the stress again. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than it was! I’m happy you were able to take this time off. :)
